Upcoming Concerts
Beck's Philadelphia Brigade Band
Becks' Philadelphia Brigade Band Band is a Civil War era brass
band portraying the brass band of the 2nd Division, 2ndCorps,
2nd Brigade of the Union Army of the Potomac in 1863.
Becks' Philadelphia Brigade Band plays the music of the
Victorian era for concerts, ceremonies, balls, parades,
commemorations and the like. The band is authentically
uniformed, playing music of the period on instruments that are
correct for the time. Based in Southern New Jersey, we
perform in NJ, PA, DE, NY, MD, DC and VA. The Philadelphia
Brigade Band has been in existence since 1991.
Becks' Philadelphia Brigade Band interprets an actual brass
band that existed in Philadelphia from 1830 to 1876, the Beck
Band No. 1, founded by the Beck family. From this band grew
the Hope Hose Company Band, a fireman's band from
Philadelphia as well as the 28th Pennsylvania Volunteer
Infantry Regiment Band, which served from July 1861 to
August 1862, later becoming known as the Philadelphia
Brigade Band, and recently, Becks' Philadelphia Brigade Band,
after filing as a 501C-3 [non-profit] corporation.
Becks' Philadelphia Brigade Band also performs as the 12th
New Jersey Regiment Band.
Becks' Philadelphia Brigade Band is not affiliated with the current incarnation of the 28th PA Regiment Band.
This concert will feature 2 guest artists: Joseph Krupa, piano and Dr. Chris Troiano, over-the-shoulder saxhorn.

A limited number of “Carols for a Merry Tuba Christmas” will be available at registration for purchase, HOWEVER, we recommend purchasing prior from TubaChristmas.com. This is the music which will be performed for the evening’s concert.
WHAT IS TUBA CHRISTMAS? 2023 is the 49th anniversary for TUBA CHRISTMAS concerts/events which are presented throughout the world. TUBA CHRISTMAS was conceived in 1974 by Harvey Phillips as a tribute to his teacher and mentor William J. Bell, born on Christmas Day, 1902. Through the legendary William J. Bell we reflect on our heritage and honor all great artists/teachers whose legacy has given us high performance standards, well structured pedagogy, professional integrity, personal values and a camaraderie envied by all other instrumentalists. The first TUBA CHRISTMAS was conducted by Paul Lavalle in New York City's Rockefeller Plaza Ice Rink on Sunday, December 22, 1974. Traditional Christmas music performed at the first TUBA CHRISTMAS was arranged by American composer Alec Wilder who ironically died on Christmas Eve, 1980. Wilder composed many solo and ensemble compositions for tuba and euphonium. He was a loyal supporter of every effort to improve the literature and public image of our chosen instruments. Through Alec Wilder we express our respect and gratitude to all composers who continue to embrace our instruments with their compositions and contribute to the ever growing solo and ensemble repertoire for tuba and euphonium.

Enchanting Instrumental Folk Music of Yore
Featuring:
Will Ott, Hammered Dulcimer & Mandola
A string is plucked. The clear sound echoes through the woods. A flute answers as a yearning voice from years long past.
Soon, the entire flowing passage of time is resounding with wistful memories of yore.
It is here at the crossroads of heartfelt folk tunes and dreamlike ambience that the music of Hagathorn thrives.
The material of "Fields and Forests of Old" is largely derived from traditional Nordic, Celtic, and British folk music.
The performance features added musical improvisation and thematic elements to compliment the original melodies.
In addition some songs are not traditional in origin, but rather original Hagathorn compositions inspired by nature and folklore.
